Represented by his deputy, Mohammed Auwal Jatau, the governor made the request at the 295th Anniversary and 8th Annual National Maulud of Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani held at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, yesterday.
He said training of female medical students will go a long way towards addressing the shortage of human resources in the state’s health sector.
The governor appreciated the Algerian government for providing scholarship opportunities to indigenes of the state in critical areas of human development.
He assured that the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed will continue to partner with the Algerian government and other global organisations to seek educational opportunities for youths and women in the state to enable them to contribute positively to national development.
Governor Mohammed in particular acknowledged the tireless efforts of the Algerian government in partnership with Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation in impacting Islamic knowledge to Muslim ummah not only in Bauchi but in Nigeria and other countries in the world.
“I am here with a high-powered delegation to represent my boss, His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON, (Kauran Bauchi), the Executive Governor of Bauchi State at this very important occasion. He has asked me to tender his apologies for his inability to attend the event due to other commitments outside the state.
“The governor has also asked me to thank our Islamic scholars who came to attend this annual Maulud from Algeria and Senegal for their contributions towards the promotion of Islam and prayers being offered to leaders for Allah’s guidance.”
Auwal Jatau urged members of the Tijjaniya sect to use the anniversary and the Annual National Maulud to pray for the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed to succeed in the task of ensuring smooth and successful implementation of his people oriented projects for the benefit of the citizenry and for the country to overcome its current challenges.
On his part, the convener of the occasion and renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, expressed gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammed for his outstanding support to the conduct of religious activities in the state, saying that the anniversary and the Annual National Maulud was to pray for good governance at all levels of government.
