JUST-IN: FULAFIA Matriculates 5,000 new intakes,Warns against Misconduct.

The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has matriculated 5000 undergraduates students into 53 departments in the 12 faculty of the institution.

Speaking at the 2023/2024 matriculation ceremony on Thursday in Lafia, Nasarawa State, Prof. Shehu Abdul-Rahman, Vice Chancellor (VC) of the university warned the students against indulging in antisocial behaviours.

The VC said that the institution had zero tolerance for any form of misconduct and would not hesitate to sanction unpleasant behaviours.

“Be modest and decent in your dressing as well as your approach to issues and adhere strictly to the rules and regulations enshrined in the students handbook.

“We do not permit the activities of any antisocial groups, especially membership of cult groups under whatever forms or names and those fund culpable will be summarily expelled from the school.

“You are advised to renounce your membership and voluntarily present yourself to the university for counselling and rehabilitation for reintegration into the society if you are already a member of any cult group,” the Vice Chancellor added.

He urged the new as well as the old students not to succumb to any threat by a person or group of persons to join any antisocial group.

“You should instead report anybody trying to introduce you to any cult group to the school authority for necessary action,” he added.

Prof. Abdul-Rahman also told the students that indecent dressings was not allowed and anyone found culpable would be denied access to lecture halls and lecturer offices.

He explained that the security personnel at the institution were authorised to arrest those who dressed indecently for necessary sanctions.

On the security preparedness, the VC said adequate security arrangements was on ground at the two campuses of the university in order to protect staff and students.

He however, advised the students to report any suspicious activities to the Dean of Student Affairs, security personnel and indeed any staff of the institution for prompt action.

The VC called on the parents and guardians to support the management towards grooming their children to be responsible citizens of the country.

He therefore urged the students to justify their parents and the government’s investment on their education.

In an interview, some of the newly matriculated students promised not to fail their parents and the school.

Raphael Enna and Happiness James all of Political Science department said it was indeed a great opportunity for them to gain admission for their undergraduate programmes.

The duo expressed gratitude to God and their parents and also promised to be law abiding and dedicated to their studies in order to come out with good grades in the next four years. (NAN)
