The Osun State Police Command has arrested the Chairman of Osun Park Management System (OPMS), Nuruden Alowonle, popularly known as Alowonle.
Alowonle was appointed OPMS Chairman by the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke.
He was arrested on Monday night, November 18, 2024, by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command at the Ring Road area of Osogbo while allegedly attempting to attack a resident who had filed a petition against him.
The second spokesperson for the command, ASP Giwa Alade Emmanuel, confirmed the arrest in a statement to newsmen on Tuesday.
“According to what I know about the case, it was reported at the Oja Oba division and the CP directed that it should be transferred to the anti-kidnapping squad for discreet investigation. The case is still under investigation,” ASP Emmanuel said.
He said Alowonle and others were intercepted and arrested on Sunday along Ring Road in Osun after receiving credible information about their planned attack on a complainant.
Despite resistance, the police successfully overwhelmed them and conducted a search on them which led to the recovery of a Berretta pistol, he said.
He added that Alowonlo is facing a case of unlawful possession of firearm, malicious damage and attempted murder.
