Two students of Bida poly dies of alleged food poison.

The Federal Polytechnic Bida has described as very unfortunate the deaths of a Male and Female student of the Institution who died recently in their rented apartment at the off-campus of the Polytechnic in Bida.

Speaking on behalf of the Institution was the Dean , Students Affairs of the Polytechnic, Malam Bello Yakubu, in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune by telephone on Wednesday in Minna, Niger State capital, adding that the remote cause of death of the deceased students of the Institution was attributed to food poisoning by Medical personnel at the Federal Medical Centre (FFMC) Bida, where they were confirmed dead, where they were rushed to for Medical treatment at the hospital shortly after their bodies were discovered unconscious by their immediate neighbours at their rented apartment.

Yakubu identified the deceased male student as Oladapo Yusuf, an HND 1, student of the Department of Business Administration and Management, and an indigene of Osun State, while the deceased female student was identified as Aishat Abubakar, an ND 2, student of the same department of Business Administration and Management, adding that she hails from Kogi State.

The Dean of Students Affairs stated further that the matter had since been reported to the police in Bida by the school authorities, while some arrests have been made of some of the co-tenants of the deceased students of the institution for further clarification about the student’s sudden deaths, which have been attributed to food poisoning.

Speaking further, Malam Bello Yakubu, however, debunked the assertion that the deceased male and female students were boyfriend and girlfriend during their lives on the campus of the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, just as he described their staying together at the time of their deaths

He disclosed that the bodies of the deceased students had since been laid to rest, stressing that the parents of the deceased HND1 students had sent the elder brother to the deceased to convey his remains to his home town in Osun State for burials, while the deceased female student’s body was laid to rest in accordance with the Islamic rites in Minna, the state capital, the base of her bereaved parents, though they are indigenes of Kogi State.
