JUST-IN:Supreme Court reserves judgment on Nasarawa State Governorship election Appeal.
Date on judgement to be communicated to both parties...
The Supreme Court on Tueday reserved judgment in the appeal filed by the governorship candidate of the People's Democratic Party(PDP) in Nasarawa State, David Ombugadu against the election of Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress(APC).
Ombugadu’s appeal is against the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), APC and Sule Audu Alhaji.
The case followed the verdict of the Appeal Court which set aside the verdict of the Tribunal and affirmed the victory of Governor Sule in the 2023 gubernatorial election in the State.
Ombugadu, a former two-term Member of the House Representatives argued that the Appellate Court erred by reversing the decision of the Tribual which declared him as winner of the election.
However, a five-member panel of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun reserved judgment on the appeal after all parties in the suit adopted their briefs of arguments.
The apex court said the date for the judgment on the matter will be communicated to both parties.
