Sub-committee of the Senators' Wives Association of Nigeria (SEWAN) awarded scholarships to 18 Indigent female students of UNIABUJA.

Yesterday, the education sub-committee of the Senators' Wives Association of Nigeria (SEWAN) awarded scholarships to 18 Indigent female students of the UofA.
The wife of the senate president, Mrs Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, represented by wife of the deputy senate president, Hajia Laila Barau Jibrin, said the scholarship would cover the tuition fees of the beneficiaries till graduation. She added that the students would receive an annual stipend of N150,000 each.
A laptop was also gifted to each of the students by the association.
Chairperson of the sub-committee, Professor Janet Plang, stated that the gesture was part of SEWAN's commitment to filling the gender gaps and improving girl-child education in Nigeria.
