NSUK Matriculates and Inaugurates 109 Engineering Students as Gov. Sule Pledges to Construct A New Road Network in the Keffi Campus.

The visitor to the Nasarawa State University, Keffi and the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule has pledged to construct a 4.5-kilometre road network at the main campus of the University.

The Governor gave the commitment while responding to a request by the Vice-Chancellor of the University at the inauguration and matriculation ceremony of the 1st set of students of the Faculty of Engineering which took place on Tuesday 5th December 2023 at the Gudi campus of the University.

Governor Sule said the road network which will be delivered on or before March 2024 will further open up the University and add to the massive infrastructural investment his Government is deploying to the University. He stressed that because of the high premium the Nasarawa State Government places on the education sector the budgetary allocation for the education sector has been increasing since he became the Governor of Nasarawa State.

The Governor who also delivered an inauguration lecture with the title “Engineering the Future: Innovations for Sustainable Infrastructural Development” explained to the freshmen that engineering is taking over the world, he charged them to have a vision and be relevant and innovative in all they do.

In his address, the chairman of the occasion and immediate past governor of Nasarawa State, Distinguished Senator Umaru Tanko Almakura congratulated the pioneer set of engineering students and his successor for being visionary, committed and focused, urging the faculty to increase the engineering programs to cover mechanical, petroleum and agricultural engineering.

Earlier in his remarks, Vice-Chancellor Professor Suleiman Bala explained that the construction of the 4.5-kilometre road network which will commence from the 2nd gate of the University into courses 2 and 3 will open up the new areas of the University for further expansion and development. He also used the opportunity to thank the governor and his predecessor for their massive support towards the Nasarawa State University project and charged the students to be good examples and shining stars.

In his welcome speech, the Dean, of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Emmanuel Kucha solicited for more support in the areas of security and more infrastructure to make the campus more conducive for learning.

The high point of the ceremony was the inauguration of the students by the Visitor to the University and the administration of the matriculation oath on the new students by the Registrar of the University, Mallam Bala Isyaka Ahmed II.

A breakdown of the 109 matriculated students indicates that Civil Engineering has 58 students, Electrical Electronics Engineering 44 students, and Chemical Engineering 7 students.
